I noticed that of these books, we read very few of them. I was shocked. We're reading all the time. How could we only have read only a handful of them? We watched many of the movies. However, as far as picking up the book and reading these "most popular novels", we just hadn't read them. . . yet. I'm going to change that.
My new project is for both of us to complete the list. I can tell you right now, we will not be reading
The Golden Compass. After this blog post, I won't even include it in the list. I will take a book from what "almost" made the list (numbers 101-120) to use as a substitution.

Read along with us or start your own novel project. If you do, I would like to hear about it.
We are starting The Secret Garden today. Earlier in the week, we dug out our Prairie Primer unit study and started reading On the Banks of Plum Creek and Ginger started reading The Mysterious Benedict Society as free reading. We didn't plan those, but now we are well on our way.

Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteThere's a few others that we're not planning to read on this list as well, but most are sound. It is always good to know what our kids are reading and to know whether we 'approve'of their content.
Great project, Shannon!
What a great list as we head into summer reading! Thanks
